- Analyse characterisation data and apply results to coating development
- Plan and execute laboratory experiments independently
- Good communication skills for sharing technical information
- Confidence working independently
- Openness to learning new techniques
- Spoken and written English or French
- Commitment to learn basics of the other language (English/French)
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Professional background in Materials Science or related fields
- Master's degree with 2 to 6 years post-graduation professional experience
- Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
- Valid driving licence
Aufgaben
- Deposit superconductive thin films onto copper substrates via HiPIMS
- Perform plasma-based surface treatment for cleaning and passivation
- Perform plasma-based surface treatment for functionalisation
- Perform in situ plasma diagnostics for process R&D
- Perform materials characterisation and data analysis
- Investigate the use of a dielectric barrier for suppressing thermoelectric currents
- Commission and operate a movable cathode sputtering system
- Contribute to the design of new sputtering systems
- Prepare coating systems within a cleanroom environment
