Working Student Embedded Control(m/w/x)
Porting next-gen control algorithms to embedded hardware for robotics. Real-time embedded development with C/C++ and motor-control peripherals required. 30 vacation days, hybrid work.
Requirements
- Enrolled student in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Good knowledge of embedded programming and debugging on MCUs/MPUs
- Experience with real-time embedded development (C/C++)
- Experience with motor-control peripherals, timers, PWM, and low-latency ISR design
- Knowledge of electric machines, power electronics, and/or electric-drive modeling and control
- Motivation to learn electric-drive use cases
- FOC for BLDC/PMSM based Servos and observer design for sensorless estimation
- Understanding of GaN vs. silicon MOSFETs
- Familiarity with motor drivers and current/voltage sensing
- Availability to work onsite in Munich lab
- Comfortable and motivated to support development of research and simulation test setup
- Motivation to work across electrical, mechanical, and software components
- Exposure to Python advantageous
- Exposure to Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments advantageous
- Exposure to ROS2/Gazebo advantageous
- Fluent in English, spoken and written
- Responsibility for security related tasks
- Conscious and reliable way of working necessary for security certifications
Tasks
- Port next-generation control algorithms to embedded hardware
- Connect and integrate various sensors, data sources, and communication devices into embedded setups
- Perform physical integration of sensors, data sources, and communication devices
- Handle firmware integration for sensors, data sources, and communication devices
- Support engineers in evaluating control algorithms through simulation
- Assist engineers in evaluating control algorithms through emulation
- Help engineers evaluate control algorithms using hardware testing
