- Deep SQL and strong Python
- Production experience with Airflow, dbt or comparable frameworks
- Hands-on expertise with cloud warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS or GCP)
- Proven CI/CD and IaC chops (GitHub Actions, Terraform or similar)
- Solid grasp of data modelling, governance, observability patterns
- Experience integrating with or building against business systems (ERP, Shop, Bank)
- Comfortable owning business system integration end to end
- Track record of close stakeholder collaboration (Commercial, Finance, Ops, Analytics)
- Treating stakeholders as first-class partners
- Bias to action in ambiguous situations
- Preference for reasonable calls and adjustments over waiting for perfect information
- Hands-on fluency with agentic coding AI tools (e.g., Claude Code)
- Track record of using AI to accelerate engineering work
- Excellent English communication
- German language skills (plus)
- Bonus: exposure to AI/LLM workloads on production
- Bonus: exposure to vector databases on production

Tasks
- Manage and lead a small, senior data platform team
- Steer end-to-end data platform strategy
- Set and sequence the roadmap for data platform, ERP, and business systems
- Maintain the company's Single Source of Truth for data
- Hire, mentor, and grow 3 to 5 Data Engineers
- Run clear goal-setting and feedback cycles
- Design and review core data platform components
- Build internal services and tools to support business needs
- Partner with Commercial, Finance, Product, Operations, and Medical teams
- Translate business needs into systems and data products
- Navigate ambiguity and create structure
- Make strategic decisions in the absence of clear answers
- Codify engineering standards for code quality, testing, and reliability
- Evaluate and pilot new technologies based on evidence
- Stay hands-on with high-leverage problems
- Write SQL, debug integrations, and scope internal tools
- Translate between business and technical worlds
- Provide clear expectations and constructive feedback
- Design for security, self-service, and future scale
