Supply Chain & Packaging Engineer(m/w/x)
Developing packaging and logistics concepts for automotive mobility solutions, including cost modeling and make-or-buy evaluations. Several years of packaging engineering experience in automotive, with OEM-specific call-off systems knowledge, required. Global project scope with strategic impact.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Logistics, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Several years of relevant experience in packaging engineering, preferably in automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of packaging systems, returnable concepts, material handling, and cost drivers
- Proven experience in defining and setting up supply chains for various delivery concepts, knowledge of OEM-specific call-off systems within German OEMs is an advantage
- Experience in cost calculations, business cases, and lifecycle costing
- Familiarity with lean principles and digital planning tools, e.g. CAD, 3D viewers, simulation software, pack assistant
- Transparency, teamwork, ability to convince colleagues about new ideas, and ability to work autonomously
- Proactive, hands-on mindset with ability to motivate and align the broader team
- Fluency in English and German, strong communication skills
- Willingness to travel to plants, suppliers, and customer sites
Tasks
- Lead packaging and logistics concept development during quotation and acquisition phases
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost modeling
- Perform make-or-buy evaluations
- Develop and validate packaging cost structures, including CAPEX and OPEX
- Analyze customer requirements and clarify technical, logistical, and commercial topics
- Define and validate material flows and packaging specifications
- Establish line-side supply concepts and inventory strategies
- Collaborate with engineering, plants, suppliers, purchasing, and logistics teams
- Drive continuous improvement of packaging standards and costing methods
- Enhance planning tools for efficiency
- Support SOP and ramp-up phases, including packaging trials and layout planning
- Participate in supplier selection and validate packaging solutions for cost, quality, and sustainability
