Requirements
- University degree (master's or equivalent) or doctorate in environmental sciences, computer science, engineering, or related fields
- In-depth knowledge of life cycle assessment (ISO 14040/44 compliant)
- Technical understanding of IT infrastructures and data centers
- Project management and interdisciplinary communication experience
- Ability to communicate complex technical content understandably
- Interest in sustainability, digitalization, and cross-disciplinary research
- Very good German and English skills
Tasks
- Collaborate on strategic projects for decarbonization and energy efficiency
- Work in an interdisciplinary team with national and international partners
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive approach for life cycle analysis of data center infrastructures
- Apply life cycle assessment (LCA) methods to existing and planned HPC and big data storage systems
- Develop a digital twin for data center infrastructures
- Derive measures for decarbonization and efficiency improvement
- Support the ‘District Data Center’ project with a focus on ecological aspects
