Requirements

  • M.Sc. or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or related field, or prior work experience in SSA/SST
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and flight dynamics
  • Scientific programming experience in Java, Fortran (90+), or Python
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative, research-driven environment
  • Currently based in Germany or willing to relocate
  • Valid working permit for Germany/EU
  • Hands-on experience with space surveillance and tracking (SST) systems
  • Experience working with space agencies or private space companies in SSA/SST field
  • Familiarity with space surveillance and tracking systems
  • Understanding of space policy and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with AI/ML applications for anomaly detection, pattern recognition, or orbit prediction in SSA applications
  • Interest in contributing to space sustainability and long-term spaceflight operations

Tasks

  • Collaborate with aerospace engineers, data scientists, and software developers
  • Integrate third-party sensor data into the SSA platform
  • Develop high-precision algorithms for orbit propagation
  • Implement algorithms for orbit determination (OD)
  • Optimize sensor fusion techniques
  • Model covariance and quantify uncertainty
  • Fuse data from diverse sources into a unified space debris image
  • Conduct validation and verification campaigns
  • Benchmark algorithmic performance against ground truth datasets
  • Refine algorithms based on validation results
  • Transition prototype algorithms into production-ready solutions
