Requirements

  • University degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication, or similar
  • Knowledge in ground station architecture and design
  • Experience in ground station systems engineering
  • Experience in development and upgrade of complex systems, including testing and validation
  • Experience in communication systems (modulation, demodulation, coding, signal/data processing)
  • Experience in TT&C systems and their interfaces
  • Programming experience (Python, C++, Matlab)
  • English fluency (speech and writing)
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task efficiently, and set priorities
  • Availability to travel across global sites as required
  • Familiarity with ESTRACK and ESOC environment (processes, configuration control)
  • Familiarity with radio propagation over different media
  • Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards and recommendations

Tasks

  • Participate in ESTRACK preparation for upcoming missions
  • Support ongoing missions with ground station engineering
  • Contribute to new antenna projects and upgrades
  • Define technical specifications and statements of work
  • Participate in procurement as an expert
  • Support design reviews and factory acceptance tests
  • Conduct site acceptance tests
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
  • Create and review design and documentation
  • Monitor ground station data provision and archiving
  • Provide performance assessments for operational incidents
  • Deploy, test, and validate technical solutions at ESA sites
  • Support operations during critical phases
  • Monitor scientific and technological trends
  • Maintain state-of-the-art expertise in the technical domain
  • Participate in technology development activities
  • Support requirement definition for prototypes
  • Evaluate achievements in technology development
  • Participate in studies of new operational concepts
  • Use weather forecasts for link optimization
  • Develop link budget tools
  • Monitor and assess space link performance
  • Manage ESTRACK data production, archiving, and dissemination
