Software Engineer - PLC/OT(m/w/x)
Evolving MES architecture for software-defined manufacturing in prefabricated timber construction, building manufacturing order simulation. Large-scale OT system operations in strong operational cultures required, TIA19 a plus. 30 vacation days, work from abroad up to 40 days/year.
Requirements
- Experience as software/automation engineer with PLC or OT technologies
- Willingness to adopt modern software engineering approaches (code reviews, testing, CI/CD)
- Experience operating and supporting large-scale software/OT systems
- Experience in companies with strong operational cultures (ideally logistics or manufacturing), understanding commercial impact of system downtime
- PLC programming (TIA19 a plus)
- Robot programming (KRL a plus)
- OPC-UA proficiency
- MQTT knowledge (a plus)
- Python, C++, or C# knowledge (a plus)
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems
- Experience defining and working with SLAs/SLOs
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing site (Richen) and within Germany/Austria for team events
Tasks
- Collaborate to evolve MES architecture to software-defined manufacturing.
- Build solutions for full simulation of manufacturing orders.
- Operate and troubleshoot developed software during factory hours.
- Understand and explain vendor PLC/OT code to your team.
- Monitor, maintain, and improve software uptime.
- Ensure reliable updates, low latency, and high efficiency.
- Bridge digital product delivery with physical logistics and manufacturing.
- Align and integrate digital and physical systems.
- Define, monitor, and evolve critical system SLAs/SLOs.
- Define, monitor, and evolve critical KPIs like OEE.
