Requirements

  • Professional software engineering experience
  • Curiosity and root cause analysis
  • Teamwork and feedback skills
  • Strong programming skills, ideally Java
  • Clear, direct communication in German and English
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs
  • Working knowledge of a major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with Spring
  • Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
  • Hands-on experience with message queues
  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Experimenting with AI-assisted development workflows
  • Willingness to apply even if not all criteria are met
  • Focus on judgment, growth, and problem-solving approach
  • Eagerness to innovate with AI

Tasks

  • Solve engineering problems related to latency, throughput, consistency, data durability, and storage cost
  • Own system components from design to production rollout
  • Shape technical direction through design reviews, prototypes, and constructive debate
  • Use modern development practices and AI-assisted tools to maintain high quality and rapid iteration
  • Participate in incident response and implement follow-up fixes
  • Collaborate with partner teams in Hamburg, the US, and India
