Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering or related field
- Proficiency in German and English
- 8+ years of experience in full cycle design engineering
- First experience leading or mentoring a hardware development team
- Experience with kinematic synthesis, pneumatic/hydraulic actuation, mechatronics, instrumentation, structures strength, stability, fatigue failure modes and tribology
- Experience with manufacturing processes, project management, scheduling/planning, materials and surface treatments
- 5+ years of hands-on hardware build experience
- Experience in structure and fluid systems for launch vehicle design, manufacturing and assembly techniques
- Experience with design engineering tools such as NX, TeamCenter, Solidworks, Ansys, Altair HyperWorks solutions, Nastran
- Experience with ERP/MES Systems, product lifecycle management (PLM) and/or data management
Tasks
- Lead design of vehicle mechanisms through all design phases
- Define requirements for vehicle mechanisms
- Drive trade studies and optimize manufacturing performance for mechanisms
- Develop and lead the mechanisms team, including hiring and identifying growth areas
- Coordinate with partner teams in structures and propulsion
- Create, review, release, and approve development and flight hardware drawings
- Identify and resolve build, test, and design optimizations
