Senior Diagnostics Engineer(m/w/x)

Requirements
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
- Designing and building precision mechanical systems for high-energy laser experiments
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor
- Hands-on experience with vacuum-compatible systems and UHV materials
- Strong understanding of Cooling systems for in-vacuum electronics
- Familiarity with ISO, DIN, and CE standards
- Ability to work independently in lab and remote settings
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Experience deploying diagnostics in high-intensity laser facilities
- Familiarity with spectrometer types
- Proficiency in COMSOL Multiphysics
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA)
- Prior involvement in transitioning experimental hardware to low manufacturing quantities
Tasks
- Design mechanical systems for ion, electron, neutron, and X/gamma-ray diagnostics
- Develop in-vacuum electronics cooling systems
- Create vacuum-compatible assemblies using Autodesk Inventor
- Integrate diagnostic systems in harsh environments with EMP and EMI
- Develop mechanical shielding, cooling, and isolation strategies
- Select UHV-compatible materials and components
- Support assembly and alignment of diagnostic devices
- Deploy diagnostic devices at remote experimental facilities
- Collaborate with physicists, electrical engineers, and systems integrators
- Conduct structural, thermal, and mechanical simulations
- Create ISO/DIN/CE-compliant documentation
- Prepare technical drawings, BOMs, risk assessments, and safety documentation
