Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification
  • 7+ years of experience in cost engineering, should-costing, or industrial engineering
  • Strong expertise in analyzing and calculating costs for mechanical, steel-based, electrical, and electro-mechanical components
  • Confident in reading technical drawings, BOMs, and product structures
  • Solid understanding of key manufacturing processes (welding, sheet metal forming, machining, assembly, electrical/electronic manufacturing)
  • Hands-on experience with cost calculation tools
  • Experience with ERP systems and structured data analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured working style
  • Excellent communication skills for translating technical/commercial data
  • Effective collaboration across functions
  • Quickly build understanding of tools and internal processes
  • Apply tools and processes effectively in daily work
  • Build strong working relationships across teams
  • Develop solid understanding of training equipment
  • Develop solid understanding of supplier manufacturing environments
  • Confident in using costing tools
  • Deliver independent cost calculations

Tasks

  • Prepare and maintain bottom-up cost calculations
  • Develop and refine should-cost models
  • Analyze drawings, BOMs, and specifications
  • Identify key cost drivers
  • Evaluate design alternatives and materials
  • Quantify cost improvement opportunities
  • Conduct cost and benchmark analyses
  • Support make-or-buy decisions
  • Assist in supplier selection
  • Support industrialization topics
  • Negotiate with suppliers using transparent cost breakdowns
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, and Quality
  • Assess cost impacts of design changes
  • Ensure implementation quality
  • Prepare structured analyses for stakeholders
  • Create management materials for internal stakeholders
