Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer in Discovery, you will architect high-performance backend systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your role involves defining technical strategies, solving complex problems, and integrating advanced machine learning models to enhance user experiences.

Requirements

• •Extensive experience in backend software engineering
• •Deep proficiency in GoLang and/or Kotlin
• •Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
• •Demonstrable experience with modern observability stacks
• •High level of expertise in a particular platform or technology
• •Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers

Tasks

• •Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for the engineering team
• •Translate complex business goals into a concrete technical roadmap
• •Design, develop, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend services using GoLang and Kotlin
• •Deploy services on Kubernetes
• •Act as a technical leader and key influencer within the engineering organization
• •Mentor other engineers and lead architectural discussions
• •Make pragmatic trade-offs to deliver customer value
• •Tackle challenging, open-ended problems with senior peers and product managers
• •Define the 'what,' 'how,' and 'when' of projects
• •Break down complexity into actionable plans
• •Lead initiatives that span multiple engineering teams
• •Ensure seamless execution and delivery with minimal guidance
• •Champion a culture of experimentation through proofs of concept and low-cost experiments
• •Validate architectural choices and improve planning
• •Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and stakeholders
• •Shape product decisions and integrate ML models into production systems
