Requirements

  • •Degree in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or equivalent disciplines
  • •Knowledge in realization of fiber preforms and related equipment
  • •Knowledge and relevant professional experience in fiber drawing and basic knowledge in fiber lasers
  • •Interest in conceptual questions and experimental work in the laboratory
  • •Willingness to meet tough challenges independently
  • •Interest in obtaining a doctor degree or post-doc studies
  • •Willingness to be involved in defence-related projects

Master's degree

Doctoral / PhD

Work Experience

approx. 1 - 4 years

Tasks

  • •Develop and optimize processes for fiber preforms using MCVD technology
  • •Investigate gas-phase and solution-doping techniques for active fibers
  • •Create and enhance fiber preforms for multi-clad and polarization-maintaining fibers
  • •Optimize photonic crystal and bandgap fibers
  • •Contribute to scientific investigations of fiber lasers
  • •Evaluate different fiber laser architectures with a team of experts
  • •Work independently on fiber preform research projects
  • •Write reports and publications in English and, if possible, German
