Project Manager - USAFE(m/w/x)

Description

As a SkillBridge intern in project management, you will engage in hands-on training, working closely with mentors to develop skills in project coordination, budget tracking, and cross-functional communication through simulations that mirror real-world scenarios.

Requirements

• •6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelor's in related field, or 4 years relevant progressive experience with Master's in related field, or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant progressive experience
• •Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills
• •Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• •Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI
• •Experience managing performance-based projects and/or programs with multiple international performance locations
• •Demonstrated experience in people and conflict management with tact and discretion
• •Experience supporting USAFE programs

Tasks

• •Build diplomatic communication skills through structured simulations
• •Gain experience in project coordination and milestone tracking
• •Monitor budgets, risks, and deliverables using internal tools
• •Understand multi-location performance environments through case studies
• •Strengthen decision-making and conflict-management skills
• •Review DoD representation guidelines and ethical considerations
• •Learn fundamentals of performance-based contracts
• •Participate in simulated interactions with internal staff
• •Practice expectation management and escalation pathways
• •Learn communication techniques across diverse teams
• •Study project scope definition and milestone planning
• •Participate in simulated planning sessions with cross-functional teams
• •Document requirements and translate them into actionable tasks
• •Identify and assess risks in simulated project scenarios
• •Develop mitigation plans and present them for feedback
• •Review budgets and track expenditures
• •Establish and monitor project KPIs
• •Create simulated status reports for review
• •Practice problem-solving techniques for performance deviations
• •Explore tools for monitoring multi-location project execution
• •Examine collaboration between project management and other departments
• •Participate in simulated coordination exercises across Europe
• •Refine communication strategies for cross-cultural environments
• •Map contract requirements to deliverables and reporting obligations
• •Develop monthly progress reports and issue summaries
• •Engage in leadership exercises focused on team cohesion
• •Evaluate simulations to identify process improvements
• •Develop a final improvement proposal for project workflows
• •Expand professional networks within the international program management community
