Requirements

  • Acquisition of junior research group in competitive funding program no later than three years prior
  • Completed doctorate in physics
  • Outstanding internationally recognized scientific achievements in accelerator physics
  • Pedagogical aptitude

Tasks

  • Expand KIT's role in research, teaching, and innovation
  • Establish novel methods for designing and operating particle accelerators
  • Develop new concepts for future accelerators
  • Ensure efficient autonomous operation of existing accelerators
  • Implement innovative methods for operating accelerators in nonequilibrium states
  • Create accelerator designs with reduced size and improved stability
  • Enhance cost and energy efficiency of existing and novel systems
  • Diagnose and control instabilities in accelerators in real-time
  • Demonstrate research results at the Accelerator Technology Platform test facilities
  • Lead a working group on autonomous particle accelerators at IBPT
  • Participate in program-oriented funding from the Helmholtz Association
  • Research new accelerator technologies and electron beam control methods
  • Collaborate with colleagues in physics, electrical engineering, and computer science
  • Raise third-party funding from national and international sources
  • Support the transfer of scientific results into practical applications
  • Participate in teaching courses, special lectures, and export lectures
  • Execute large-scale research tasks with a teaching obligation of 6 hours per week per semester
