Requirements
- Bachelor's and Master's degrees (or equivalent) with 300 ECTS credits
- Background in data science, computer science, physics, mathematics, biology, medicine, or engineering disciplines
- Enthusiasm for developing new machine learning methods for life sciences
- Excellent interdisciplinary communication skills
- Excellent written and oral command of English language
- Previous research experience in machine learning and computational biology advantageous
- Not already in possession of a doctoral degree
- Enrollment in a doctoral programme in EU Member State or Horizon Europe associated country
- Full-time and exclusive dedication to the assigned MSCA project
- Resided or carried out main activity outside Germany for 24 of last 36 months
Tasks
- Develop robust clinical foundation models
- Integrate structured data, free-text notes, lab results, and medical imaging
- Create multi-modal models reflecting real clinical workflows
- Pretrain models using multi-hospital datasets
- Utilize public and private clinical data sources
- Implement self-supervised learning strategies
- Link EHR entries with patient-reported outcomes
- Ensure models learn without extensive manual labelling
- Create clinically understandable prompting techniques
- Help physicians interact with models effectively
- Avoid costly fine-tuning of models
- Build trust in AI-driven medical decisions
