Requirements

  • Beneficial experience in training and evaluating machine learning models
  • Beneficial experience with HPCs or Linux systems (not prerequisite)
  • Collaboration capability in multidisciplinary, international team
  • Excellent written and spoken English knowledge

Tasks

  • Train machine learning models with in situ and remote sensing data.
  • Develop a European soil temperature dataset.
  • Analyze soil hot extremes and drivers in forests and grasslands using the dataset.
  • Assess soil hot extremes' contribution to vegetation declines in Germany and Europe.
