Requirements
- M.Sc. degree in environmental science, ecology, meteorology, or related areas
- Coding language knowledge, ideally C++
- Python or R proficiency
- English fluency, written and spoken
- Engagement in international, multidisciplinary training programme
- Willingness for one-year research placement in Australia and compliance with formalities
- Readiness to engage within LPJ-GUESS and LandSyMM communities
- Willingness to travel between KIT-Campus Alpin and KIT Karlsruhe
Tasks
- Familiarize with LandSyMM and LPJ-GUESS ecosystem models
- Simulate land-use changes and their effects on ecosystem processes
- Explore biodiversity indicators under different land-use scenarios
- Research literature and data sources for model interpretation
- Develop ideas for model applications and publications
- Document code development and performance
