Requirements

  • M.Sc. degree in environmental science, ecology, meteorology, or related areas
  • Coding language knowledge, ideally C++
  • Python or R proficiency
  • English fluency, written and spoken
  • Engagement in international, multidisciplinary training programme
  • Willingness for one-year research placement in Australia and compliance with formalities
  • Readiness to engage within LPJ-GUESS and LandSyMM communities
  • Willingness to travel between KIT-Campus Alpin and KIT Karlsruhe

Tasks

  • Familiarize with LandSyMM and LPJ-GUESS ecosystem models
  • Simulate land-use changes and their effects on ecosystem processes
  • Explore biodiversity indicators under different land-use scenarios
  • Research literature and data sources for model interpretation
  • Develop ideas for model applications and publications
  • Document code development and performance
