Requirements

  • Studies in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or comparable field
  • Basic understanding of sensor technology and measurement systems
  • Experience in mathematical modeling and data analysis
  • Interest in condition monitoring and engine health management
  • Very good English skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured scientific work

Tasks

  • Conduct literature review on thermal effusivity factors
  • Research oil aging and contamination influences
  • Identify realistic scenarios for sensor validation
  • Prepare and conduct laboratory tests with sensor
  • Evaluate sensor performance under various conditions
  • Measure sensor accuracy, robustness, and fluid distinguishability
  • Mathematically model Oil Condition Sensor
  • Simulate sensor behavior under different oil conditions
  • Summarize and discuss results in thesis
  • Provide recommendations for further development
  • Suggest integration into Engine Health Management Systems
