- Master studies in Engineering, Physics, or comparable field
- Profound knowledge and experience in numerical simulation methods
- Solid understanding of continuum mechanics
- Very good programming skills in Python
- Desirable: Initial experience with OpenFOAM, NVIDIA Warp, and ParaView
- Ideally: Initial experience with Git and HPC clusters
- Ability to proactively develop new ideas
- Independent problem-solving
- Efficient task completion
- High degree of self-motivation
- University enrollment
Tasks
- Review Lagrangian Particle Tracking methods.
- Review GPU computing in CFD.
- Review particle-wall interaction methods.
- Develop a GPU particle tracking solver using Python/NVIDIA Warp.
- Implement collision detection for complex 3D geometries.
- Create a pre-processing pipeline for OpenFOAM data for GPU.
- Integrate the new solver into a standard OpenFOAM workflow.
- Validate and benchmark solver performance against OpenFOAM tools.
