Requirements
- Law Degree and Master’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Public International Law or related field, ideally with focus on legal framework applicable to intergovernmental organisations
- Extensive professional experience as lawyer in intergovernmental organisation and/or with drafting and negotiating agreements with public entities
- Demonstrated experience practising commercial/contract law
- Demonstrated experience in data privacy protection matters
- Exposure to laws of CERN’s Host States (Switzerland and France) and EU law
- Knowledge of International Administrative Law (law of International Civil Service) and/or contract law
- Negotiation skills
- Legal drafting skills
- Teamwork skills, including sharing information and including others
- Autonomy and initiative
- Delivering high quality work on time and fulfilling expectations
- Effective communication of opinions, ideas, and suggestions
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities
- Excellent spoken and written English, including demonstrated drafting skills
- Willingness to learn French
Tasks
- Provide legal support for international agreements
- Draft and negotiate scientific collaboration agreements
- Negotiate E.U. Consortium Agreements
- Support commercial and contractual matters
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts
- Handle disputes related to commercial contracts
- Collaborate on data privacy protection
- Advise on CERN’s international status
- Advise on CERN’s internal functioning
- Contribute to internal legislation
- Implement internal policies and frameworks
- Work in other legal domains as assigned
