Internship in Optical Sensing for Smart Instruments & Medical Robotics(m/w/x)
In this internship, you will engage in cutting-edge research, developing innovative optical sensing instruments and medical imaging devices. Your work will involve testing concepts, analyzing data, and conducting experiments to advance medical robotics applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a master’s program in mechanical, electrical, or (bio)medical engineering, optics & photonics, computer science, physics, or similar
- Good understanding of optics fundamentals and ideally OCT
- Programming knowledge in Python, C/C++, or CUDA
- Hands-on experience with signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, and optical systems
- Research experience in data acquisition electronics development and integration
- Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills in English and/or German
- Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies
Tasks
- Develop optical smart instruments and medical imaging devices
- Utilize multiple optical sensing modalities for medical robotics
- Test concepts and core functionalities of optical sensing hardware and software
- Analyze data generated by optical sensing systems
- Assist in developing research-grade prototypes in lab settings
- Research existing solutions in scientific and patent literature
- Tailor solutions to meet project needs
- Conduct experiments with free-space and fiber-based optical systems
- Evaluate experimental results
