Requirements
- Master’s degree in natural sciences, engineering, computational sciences, computer science or mathematics
- Practical experience using and installing scientific software on HPC systems
- Experience in HPC with batch systems, parallel jobs, and Linux workflows
- Knowledge of databases, statistics, usage data, and APIs for integration
- Working knowledge of Linux, software license managers, and development environments
- Good command of English
- Basic German skills or willingness to acquire them
- Initiative, analytical thinking, results orientation, and teamwork skills
Tasks
- Provide and maintain scientific and technical software on Linux-based HPC systems
- Optimize software performance for efficient use of parallel applications
- Advise researchers on using parallel applications effectively
- Manage license quotas for commercial scientific software
- Develop and enhance license-manager-based processes in HPC environments
- Analyze and resolve complex issues in HPC system operations
- Install and port scientific software to novel architectures
- Evaluate software on ARM-based systems and GPU-accelerated platforms
- Analyze HPC system usage and scientific software usage
- Build and maintain central statistics and evaluation structures
- Link usage data with scientific computing projects
- Support needs-based license planning
- Contribute to the development of HPC services
- Support the review process for scientific computing time allocations
- Develop user support processes and services
- Create documentation for HPC systems and software
- Contribute to workshops and training courses
