Requirements
- Hands-on experience with RothC or other soil organic carbon models
- Experience building and applying biogeochemical models across multiple families
- Experience leading or managing scientific or modelling teams
- Experience in model validation and scientific verification
- Working understanding of Python for reading modelling code
- Experience with carbon methodologies and certification frameworks
- Understanding of MRV systems
- Experience applying models across different geographies and systems
- Ability to translate complex scientific models into practical solutions
- Experience engaging with third-party auditors or validation bodies
- Startup/commercial mindset with experience in fast-paced environments
- PhD in soil science, biogeochemistry, agronomy, or related field
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments

Tasks
- Lead development, integration, and validation of Klim's modelling ecosystem
- Develop and maintain core models (RothC and other biogeochemical models)
- Ensure scientific consistency and rigor across all models
- Define and drive ensemble modelling strategy
- Integrate multiple models and data sources into a coherent, scalable setup
- Align modelling approaches with certification requirements
- Support decision-making across diverse geographies and farming systems
- Manage Klim's soil scientists in a matrix organization
- Set technical standards and mentor on scientific quality
- Grow the team's modelling capability over time
- Translate complex modelling approaches into operational, audit-ready workflows
- Work with product, data, and engineering teams
- Develop and apply Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) models (e.g., RothC)
- Provide hands-on contribution to model building and delivery
- Ensure scientific leadership and management of soil scientists
- Review and develop scientific work of the team
- Design and implement Klim's modelling architecture
- Ensure alignment with certification standards and methodologies
- Support both scientific credibility and operational delivery
