- •Native or near-native German and professional English
- •Fully qualified lawyer in Germany with two State Exams
- •8–12 years of relevant legal experience
- •Expertise in German higher education, nonprofit, and corporate law
- •Excellent English drafting and negotiation skills
- •Ability to operate independently in complex organizations
- •Prior experience as in-house counsel or head of legal
- •Familiarity with international academic partnerships
- •Experience with boards and public authorities
- •Pragmatic, solution-oriented legal thinking

Tasks
- •Advise executive leadership and boards on legal strategy
- •Develop and implement group-wide governance strategies
- •Identify legal risks and provide actionable guidance
- •Oversee compliance with German higher education regulations
- •Support interactions with education authorities and regulators
- •Advise on academic governance and examination regulations
- •Manage faculty appointments and student-related legal issues
- •Handle nonprofit status and charitable law matters
- •Ensure compliant governance across all group entities
- •Prepare board resolutions, minutes, and statutory changes
- •Negotiate academic partnerships and international cooperation agreements
- •Draft research collaborations and funding agreements
- •Review commercial, service, and licensing contracts
- •Oversee corporate housekeeping for all entities
- •Advise on German employment and labor law
- •Manage works council matters and HR policies
- •Oversee real estate, leases, and campus operations
- •Ensure zoning, permit, and regulatory compliance
- •Manage GDPR compliance and data protection frameworks
- •Coordinate with external counsel on litigation matters
- •Select and manage external law firms and advisors
- •Act as legal contact for ministries and partners
