Ground Segment System Architect(m/w/x)
Developing and implementing satellite network control systems, with Model-Based System Engineering. 5+ years in satellite communication system design and architecture, focusing on ground operations, required. Work on the world's first fully connected mesh satellite network.
Requirements
- University degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Ground Segment system design and architecture for satellite communication systems
- Proven experience in defining and managing system requirements, use cases, and technical interfaces
- Good understanding of satellite communications, including RF resource management, payload operation
- Proven experience in Model-based Systems Engineering methodologies and tools
- Practical experience with ARCADIA methodology and Capella tool
- Experience in the design and implementation of complex Ground Segment architectures, including network control, RF systems, and user terminal interfaces
- Familiarity with SDN, network routing (e.g., MPLS, OSPF), and integration with OSS/BSS systems
- Knowledge of RF standards (e.g., DVB-S2X, beam hopping) and dynamic resource allocation concepts
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes, methods, tools and standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform trade-off analysis and feasibility assessments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional, international teams
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Proactive mindset, with the ability to take ownership of technical challenges and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Tasks
- Support the Ground Segment Lead Architect in system design
- Develop and implement the Ground Segment system
- Contribute to the architecture and integration of Ground Segment components
- Engage in Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) activities
- Manage segment-level modeling for functional design
- Ensure Ground Segment meets performance and reliability requirements
- Manage system requirements for traceability and compliance
- Define and maintain use cases for Ground Segment functionality
- Oversee interface development between Ground Segment subsystems
- Develop Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) models
- Collaborate with the Lead Architect on hardware and software interoperability
- Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components
- Support Ground Segment operations for smooth transition to readiness
- Ensure scalability and flexibility of the Ground Segment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for integrated solutions
