Firmware Developer - FPGA(m/w/x)
FPGA firmware for real-time data acquisition and L1 Data Scouting. AMD Xilinx FPGA and high-speed optical link experience required. 30 days paid leave, 2 weeks annual closure.
Requirements
- Firmware development for AMD Xilinx FPGAs and Systems-on-chip (Versal, Zynq)
- High-speed optical links and data acquisition/trigger systems experience
- Electronics experience (reading schematics, configuring components via I2C)
- Knowledge of VHDL and AMD Xilinx firmware development tools (Vivado)
- Knowledge of C++, Python, Git, and containerised software
- Spoken and written English proficiency
- Commitment to learn French
- Professional background in Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or related field
- Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience
- PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience
- No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract
Tasks
- Develop FPGA firmware for data acquisition
- Develop FPGA firmware for real-time processing
- Develop firmware for the L1 Data Scouting demonstrator
- Develop online software to control the system
- Contribute to developing new data acquisition electronics
- Contribute to testing new data acquisition electronics
- Contribute to developing the L1 Data Scouting demonstration system
- Contribute to operating the L1 Data Scouting demonstration system
- Collaborate with CMS L1 trigger groups
- Collaborate with data scouting groups at CERN
- Present project work at conferences
- Present project results at workshops
