Requirements
- Full German driving licence
- Leading and guiding a team of Field Engineers
- Ownership of field engineering function
- Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, fault triage, and repair processes
- Experience in fleet operations, automotive systems, or ADAS technology (plus)
- Process development, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency
- Meeting strict SLAs (5-minute response time, 90% vehicle uptime)
- Coordination with global teams
- Clear technical guidance provision
- Seamless handovers between locations
- Deep understanding of safety protocols
- Incident management understanding
- Strict adherence to operational procedures
- Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environment
- Participation in on-call rotations
- Weekend coverage when required
- Fluent in German
- Fluent in English
- Background in Automotive, DevOps, or Infrastructure (highly beneficial)
- Experience in vehicle systems, software deployment, or cloud-based monitoring (highly beneficial)
- Familiarity with ADAS and Autonomous Vehicle Technology (plus)
- Familiarity with sensor systems, vehicle diagnostics, and real-world testing environments (plus)
- System troubleshooting and optimisation ability
- Diagnosing and resolving issues across hardware, software, and networked vehicle systems
- Onsite presence at Leonberg office
- Disclosure of any second job
- Passing training and pre-employment checks
- Passion for self-driving cars
Tasks
- Lead on-site fault triage and resolution
- Diagnose and repair vehicle software and hardware issues
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineering and other teams
- Develop structured processes for fault diagnosis and repair
- Enforce operational workflows in Field Engineering
- Support and guide field engineers
- Ensure rapid response to issues within 15 minutes
- Meet one-hour repair SLA
- Manage global operational handovers
- Coordinate on-call support and shift coverage
- Provide 24/7 technical assistance
- Ensure compliance with safety and protocols
- Identify and implement areas for improvement
- Optimize field engineering support across regions
