Requirements

  • •Diploma or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related area
  • •Good programming skills (e.g. Python, C/C++)
  • •Good knowledge in optical transmission technologies and optical fiber effects
  • •Laboratory experience in optical sub-system and system characterization
  • •Experience in coherent optical transmission and optical modulation
  • •Experience in optical amplification and switching
  • •Experience in monitoring of signal quality in an optical network
  • •Good presentation and communication skills
  • •Innovative, highly motivated personality
  • •Fluent oral and written English language skills, fluency in German is a plus
  • •Capability to think strategic, innovative, constructive and application oriented

Tasks

  • •Conduct research on optical transmission systems and distributed fiber sensing
  • •Set up experimental assemblies in the laboratory
  • •Perform experiments in optical communication technology
  • •Organize laboratory operations
  • •Collaborate with national and international project partners
  • •Lead internal subprojects for research and development
  • •Apply knowledge in technologies for increasing optical communication capacity
  • •Develop amplifier setups for new applications
  • •Implement techniques for monitoring signal quality in optical networks
  • •Integrate joint data communication with distributed fiber sensing
