Requirements
- Several years of professional editorial experience, ideally in illustrated book, magazine, or cultural publishing
- Interest in core categories, strong instinct for relevant concepts, and existing network within lifestyle publishing and visual industries
- Excellent written and spoken English at publication level
- High organization and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience managing complex editorial projects from concept to print
- Enjoyment of visual research, image acquisition, and building compelling visual narratives
- Strong editorial judgement and high attention to detail
- Clear and confident communication with authors, creatives, photographers, and external contributors
- Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented
- Enjoyment of working independently and within a collaborative editorial structure
- Comfortable working in fast-moving creative environments with evolving priorities
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and familiarity with project management tools like Asana
- German language skills
- Experience with illustrated books and visual storytelling
- Familiarity with print production and design workflows
- Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign
- Existing network within creative, cultural, or publishing industries
- Experience writing editorial content
Tasks
- Manage 8-12 illustrated book projects from acquisition to publication
- Translate project concepts into clear editorial workflows and timelines
- Prepare and manage project budgets throughout the publishing process
- Coordinate with authors, contributors, photographers, designers, and external partners
- Lead day-to-day editorial execution across all project phases
- Provide structural and developmental editorial feedback
- Research and acquire imagery, including rights clarification and licensing
- Coordinate image sourcing, permissions, and licensing processes
- Support the development of design briefings
- Collaborate with design and production teams
- Monitor schedules, deadlines, and contractual deliverables
- Ensure editorial consistency, quality, and timely delivery
- Write and edit editorial and sales materials
- Collaborate with editorial, design, production, marketing, PR, sales, and rights teams
- Contribute to internal discussions on positioning and content development
- Participate in publishing strategy discussions
