- Builder of strong engineering systems
- Built career frameworks, calibration systems, performance management processes

- Clear communicator and strategic operator
- Strong communicator
- Turns strategy into clear quarterly objectives and actionable plans
- High standards, low ego
- Combines high standards with low-ego, builder mentality
- Leads by example rather than hierarchy
- Structured, calm, and execution-focused
- Scales execution quality and operational discipline without slowing teams down
- Hands-on architect first
- Willingness to spend 30%+ time coding or owning architecture decisions

- Does not rely heavily on fully built HR or people operations structures
- Not a first-time engineering manager
- Has experienced scaling teams and organizations firsthand

Tasks
- Lead operational strategy with the CTO
- Manage people leadership across engineering squads
- Conduct regular 1:1s with Engineering Managers and senior engineers
- Facilitate growth conversations and performance reviews
- Conduct calibration sessions across the engineering organization
- Oversee key parts of the hiring process
- Interview and close strong candidates
- Sponsor tech debt reduction
- Prioritize long-term architectural investments
- Review squad delivery progress
- Identify and address blockers early
- Maintain high quality standards across teams
- Collaborate on org design and hiring strategy
- Plan headcount with the CTO
- Coordinate roadmap priorities
- Manage engineering capacity planning with the CPO
