Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Educational Management, Higher Education Policy, Quality Assurance, or related field, or equivalent senior professional experience
  • Substantial experience in academic quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, within Germany and international context
  • Proven experience managing external regulatory reviews, audits, and accreditation processes, including preparation of submissions and reports
  • Excellent English (C1+) and strong German (C1–C2 preferred)
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong conceptual skills, transparency, integrity, and ability to influence, persuade, and communicate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in relevant academic or professional discipline
  • Recognised professional qualification in quality management or compliance (e.g., CQI, ISO-related certifications, or equivalent)
  • Experience within German higher education regulatory environment, familiarity with FIBAA, AQAS, or equivalent accreditation bodies
  • Track record of institutional leadership in quality assurance across multiple campuses or in networked higher education context
  • Prior experience within European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and knowledge of European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) for Quality Assurance
  • Strategic and analytical thinking with strong conceptual skills
  • Expert knowledge of academic quality assurance frameworks and regulatory requirements
  • Strong data analysis and quality information management skills
  • Ability to manage complexity, competing priorities, and ambiguity
  • Excellent written and spoken English (C1+) and German (C1–C2 preferred)
  • High levels of transparency, integrity, and professional judgement
  • Commitment to continuous enhancement, inclusivity, and institutional excellence
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication across diverse groups
  • Proven ability to lead and manage quality audits, reviews, and accreditation processes
  • Collaborative leader with experience working across academic and professional services

Tasks

  • Lead risk-based, enhancement, and compliance assurance framework
  • Design, implement, and monitor academic quality assurance systems
  • Ensure compliance with national and international regulations
  • Align quality assurance with university strategic objectives
  • Develop and improve academic quality assurance framework
  • Manage preparations and submissions for external reviews and audits
  • Advise on academic regulations, quality policies, and compliance
  • Contribute to development and revision of governance policies
  • Strengthen partnerships with academic and institutional partners
  • Ensure consistent application of quality assurance processes
  • Oversee academic quality assurance strategy and policies
  • Manage quality-related data and information effectively
  • Deliver timely academic quality assurance activities
  • Provide professional support to faculty and academic leadership
  • Monitor changes in regulatory and quality assurance landscape
  • Advise senior management on implications and responses
  • Safeguard teaching, learning, and assessment quality
  • Promote culture of continuous enhancement and academic integrity
  • Ensure compliance with German regulatory and legal obligations
  • Support presidium with high-quality analysis and reporting
  • Advise academic governance bodies on robust decision-making
  • Ensure effective secretariat support to governance bodies
  • Coordinate agendas, documentation, and governance processes
