Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven experience with containerised infrastructure and orchestration tools (Kubernetes or OpenShift)
  • Strong knowledge of system administration databases, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation (e.g. Helm, GitLab CI)
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining web platforms (Open Journal Systems or WordPress)
  • Developing integrations and advanced automation scripts in PHP, Python, and SQL
  • Demonstrated experience in IT service management
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with open science principles and experience in EU-funded projects
  • Knowledge of programming techniques and languages: PHP and Python
  • Development of application software
  • Testing, diagnosing, and optimisation of software
  • Achieving results: delivering prompt and efficient service
  • Communicating effectively: documenting information, procedures, and decisions
  • Working in teams: promoting a positive atmosphere
  • Demonstrating accountability: working conscientiously and reliably
  • Demonstrating flexibility: dealing with ambiguous situations
  • Spoken and written English, with commitment to learn French

Tasks

  • Build, deploy, and maintain the Open Research Europe infrastructure
  • Manage Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments
  • Develop integrations with third-party services
  • Ensure secure and reliable operations of the publishing platform
  • Collaborate with the business and editorial operations team
  • Translate service requirements into technical implementations
  • Monitor system performance and conduct regular security audits
  • Manage backups and incident response procedures
  • Oversee day-to-day IT service management
  • Provide technical user support and supervise a junior team member
  • Prepare service documentation and EU project deliverables
  • Contribute improvements to open-source projects like OJS
