Development Engineer - Imaging Devices(m/w/x)
Developing mechanical and mechatronic components for X-ray imaging devices. Several years of development experience in complex systems required. International business travel up to 5%.
Requirements
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent
- Product development experience of complex systems, ideally X-ray imaging devices
- Experience in dental or medical device industry (advantageous)
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards, including medical device regulations (MDR)
- Several years development/system-responsible engineering role experience
- Strong engineering mindset with technical responsibility for mechanical/mechatronic solutions
- Experience in cross-functional development environments, ideally agile/hybrid frameworks
- Willingness to deeply engage with product technologies (mechanics, kinematics, mechatronics)
- Understanding of engineering principles, standards, quality systems, CAD tools (Creo)
- Experience with engineering analysis methods (FEM, strength/durability calculations, FMEA)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders
- Structured and analytical thinker with focus on robust solutions, risk awareness, continuous improvement
- Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
Tasks
- Monitor emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with research partners, universities, and suppliers
- Contribute technical insights to early concept and innovation activities
- Develop mechanical and mechatronic components and systems
- Design solutions meeting performance, usability, manufacturability, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement of existing products and platforms
- Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design concepts and system performance
- Apply simulation and analysis methods to support design decisions
- Plan and execute functional tests and verification activities
- Ensure designs and documentation comply with quality management systems and regulations
- Support verification, validation, and regulatory activities
- Work closely with system engineering, electronics, software, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Support smooth transitions from development to industrialization
- Analyze and resolve technical issues during development and post-launch
- Perform risk and failure analyses (e.g., dFMEA, RCA)
- Maintain and update technical documentation and specifications
- Collaborate with suppliers on component development and technical alignment
- Support evaluation of supplier solutions against technical and quality requirements
- Contribute to invention disclosures and support patent activities
- Maintain awareness of relevant competitor IP from a technical perspective
