Data Engineer – Drilling & Well Operations(m/w/x)
Designing real-time data pipelines for geothermal and lithium drilling rigs. Machine learning model development and data modeling for cost tracking experience required. Individual training and development, creative freedom.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable technical field
- Data engineering experience, ideally in industrial or energy environments
- Hands-on experience developing, training, and operationalizing machine-learning models
- Experience building data models for cost tracking and project controlling
- Ability to structure, process, and analyze large, heterogeneous datasets
- Working with cloud platforms (AWS)
- Strong analytical mindset and structured problem-solving skills
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
- Basic understanding of drilling & well operations and key drilling parameters
- Solid expertise in SQL and experience with relational and time-series databases
- Strong proficiency in Python (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
- Integrated LLMs into data workflows for structured data extraction
- Developed automated pipelines using Prompt Engineering and RAG
- Leveraging AI tools (e.g., GitHub, Copilot, ChatGPT) for code documentation, unit testing, and SQL optimization
Tasks
- Design reliable data pipelines for drilling and well operations
- Collect and process real-time rig data, including sensor and time-series data
- Ensure quality assurance of real-time rig data
- Implement automated data flows from rig systems to central data platforms
- Monitor automated data flows for reliability and performance
- Develop and validate machine-learning models for drilling parameter prediction
- Analyze daily drilling and operational data to identify performance, safety, and cost deviations
- Create data-driven insights to optimize drilling performance
- Develop automated operational cost-tracking solutions
- Establish solid data orchestration and data warehousing procedures
- Develop and maintain analytics, reporting, and dashboard workflows
- Continuously optimize analytics, reporting, and dashboard workflows
- Document data models, pipelines, and analytical outputs for operational use
- Integrate LLMs into data workflows to automate data extraction from unstructured sources
- Develop automated pipelines using Prompt Engineering and RAG
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate code documentation, unit testing, and SQL optimization
