- 3+ years backend engineering experience with JVM stack (preferably Kotlin and Spring Boot)
- Solid understanding of software design patterns, data modeling, and system architecture principles
- Comfortable with Kafka, Postgres, and AWS in production at scale
- Enjoyment of and active seeking of collaboration and daily pair programming
- AI-native engineer, open to using agents and tools for coding optimization
- Experience with, or strong interest in, distributed and fault-tolerant systems
- Fast learner valuing quality, detail, and effective time management
- Fluent English communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native observability/monitoring tools
- Knowledge of different programming paradigms (Functional vs. OOP)
- Familiarity with high-scale applications involving many concurrent processes
- Desire to share knowledge with wider engineering community
Tasks
- Develop high-performance backend services and APIs
- Evolve existing backend systems using Kotlin and Spring Boot
- Design robust data schemas and event-driven integrations
- Handle complex transaction and catalog data at scale
- Write clean, well-tested, production-grade code
- Contribute to code reviews and team rituals
- Collaborate with mobile and product teams
- Ship end-to-end features focusing on performance and data consistency
- Engage in daily pair programming
- Solve complex concurrency challenges
- Maintain high architectural standards
- Manage CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor service health in production
- Use AI coding agents to automate repetitive tasks
- Increase shipping velocity through automation
- Refactor mission-critical domain logic
- Migrate domain logic to centralize and simplify experiences
