- Own the domain roadmap with the VP of Revenue
- Prioritize across teams
- Balance build-vs-buy decisions
- Map engineering investment to commercial outcomes
- Hire and develop engineering managers and engineers
- Manage relationships with external development partners
- Ensure quality and architecture alignment with partners
- Drive technical excellence in a greenfield-meets-brownfield context
- Define technical strategy for coherence
- Establish shared APIs, data contracts, and service boundaries
- Define on-call practices
- Navigate a matrix organization
- Work with fellow Engineering Directors
- Maintain cross-domain standards
- Coordinate shared services
- Ensure consistent engineering culture
- Champion AI and automation across the commercial stack
- Identify AI and machine learning opportunities
- Partner with Data Science to bring models into production
- Foster a culture of AI leverage
- Represent engineering in commercial conversations
- Translate stakeholder challenges into engineering problems
