Requirements

  • Extensive data modelling experience with Data Vault 2.0
  • Hands-on dbt experience in production
  • Advanced proficiency in cloud data warehouses (ideally BigQuery)
  • BigQuery query optimization, partitioning, clustering, cost management
  • Expert-level SQL skills
  • Experience with large-scale, complex datasets
  • Understanding of modern data architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
  • Understanding of lakehouse patterns
  • Experience designing scalable data platforms on GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Experience designing maintainable data platforms on GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Strong software engineering practices
  • Version control experience
  • Testing experience
  • CI/CD experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence technical standards
  • Apply automation or AI-assisted practices in data engineering

Tasks

  • Design scalable, resilient data models using Data Vault 2.0
  • Define and enforce data modelling standards and conventions
  • Transform raw data into structured, integrated datasets
  • Embed data quality, lineage, auditability, and governance
  • Design scalable, modular dbt frameworks
  • Optimize BigQuery pipelines and storage
  • Architect orchestration workflows with Cloud Composer / Airflow
  • Drive testing strategies, CI/CD practices, and code quality
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into robust data models
  • Mentor data engineers and resolve performance issues
  • Collaborate with analytics and business teams
