Requirements
- Master’s, PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years developing large, integrated, complex systems
- Experience with ICF-class laser facilities strongly preferred
- Experience applying systems engineering lifecycle processes
- Ability to reason across scales and architectures
- Strong technical synthesis and communication skills
- Experienced author of technical documentation
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems
- Orientation toward robustness, reliability, maintainability, and operability
- Fluency in English
- German proficiency as a strong plus
Tasks
- Lead the laser system through its full engineering lifecycle
- Support formal design and operational readiness reviews
- Establish and maintain system-level performance requirements
- Define the system-level verification and validation strategy
- Manage technical interfaces between optical and facility systems
- Maintain system baselines and configuration consistency
- Develop functional and performance-based system models
- Translate physics requirements into engineering specifications
- Contribute to safety analyses and laser safety protocols
- Oversee commissioning activities for reliable system operation
