Senior Project Manager Rail Infrastructure(m/w/x)
End-to-end delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects, managing B and C categories. 10+ years of rail infrastructure PM experience required. IPMA B certification preferred, software project experience a plus.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 10+ years project management experience in rail infrastructure or comparable large-scale infrastructure projects
- Experience in software development projects
- Proven track record delivering complex projects within contractual, financial, and schedule constraints
- IPMA B or equivalent project management certification
- Strong understanding of railway systems and infrastructure components
- Solid experience with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management
- Experience working in international project environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities
- English and German mandatory, French/Italian is an advantage
- Proficient in project management and reporting tools
- Strong experience in cost management, forecasting, and earned value management
- Solid analytical capability with structured problem-solving approach
- Ability to interpret contractual, technical, and financial project data effectively
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Capability of coaching younger Project Managers
- Strong leadership presence without formal line management
- Excellent negotiation, influence, and conflict resolution skills
- Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution ability
- Clear, structured communication across all organizational levels
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage parallel priorities
Tasks
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects
- Assume full responsibility for scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety
- Manage projects in B and C categories
- Apply and maintain PM@Siemens methodologies and tools
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, contractual, and regulatory standards
- Act as primary contact for customers, railway operators, contractors, and authorities
- Drive proactive risk and opportunity management
- Develop and implement mitigation plans and escalation procedures
- Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and earned value
- Lead contract and claim management with commercial and legal teams
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams
- Implement robust project controls, reporting, and governance
- Participate in project reviews and implement corrective actions
- Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
