Senior Manager Human Resources - Germany(m/w/x)

Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or related fields (Master’s degree preferred)
- Extensive senior level HR experience in Germany, ideally within a complex or multinational organization
- Proven experience with German Works Councils and managing collective labor relations
- Experience leading HR teams and managing HR budgets (strong plus)
- Deep knowledge of German labor law, co-determination, and collective bargaining frameworks
- Strong experience in employee relations, restructurings, and change management
- Solid understanding of HR operations, Payroll, compensation and benefits, and talent management processes
- Good understanding of HRIS tools and data analytics
- Strong leadership, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- High judgment, integrity, and discretion
- Ability to operate effectively in matrix and international environments
- Excellent communication skills in German and English (written and verbal)
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Resilience and ability to manage ambiguity, tight timelines, and multiple priorities
Tasks
- Provide strategic and operational HR leadership across German entities
- Ensure compliance with German labor law and internal governance
- Engage effectively with Works Councils and unions
- Deliver high-quality HR services aligned with business strategy
- Advise senior leadership on HR matters
- Support organizational effectiveness and workforce planning
- Manage talent management and succession planning
- Lead change management initiatives
- Interact with German Works Council and other representative bodies
- Manage collective bargaining and works agreements
- Proactively manage employee relations and labor risks
- Draft and negotiate works agreements with co-determination bodies
- Advise on labor law, employment contracts, and disciplinary actions
- Partner with Legal and external advisors on complex matters
- Monitor regulatory changes in German employment law
- Assess impact of regulatory changes on HR policies
- Oversee core HR processes including recruitment and onboarding
- Manage performance, compensation, benefits, and payroll
- Ensure consistent, high-quality HR service across Germany
- Drive continuous improvement of HR processes
- Provide HR consulting to Hamburg-based managers and employees
- Oversee apprenticeship programs in Hamburg, Brunsbüttel, and Marl
- Ensure compliance with vocational training regulations
- Maintain data accuracy and compliance in HR administration
- Support performance management and leadership development
- Champion a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture
- Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives
- Contribute to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts
- Lead and coach the Germany HR team
- Manage five direct reports
- Act as primary HR interface for Germany
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Role-model company values and ethical standards
