Requirements
- Advanced degree in data science, mathematics, engineering, physics, or related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in Data Science or equivalent work experience in advanced ML, time series or deep learning algorithms for regression, classification, forecasting or clustering problems
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying modern AI solutions, including NLP and Generative AI applications, with practical experience in areas such as embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, or agentic workflows
- Proficient quantitative, statistical, and programming skills. Proven experience taking AI/ML solutions from prototype to production, including evaluation, scalability, monitoring and integration with operational systems
- Experience with cloud-based machine learning services such as AWS SageMaker, Google Cloud Vertex AI and beyond
- Experience mentoring and managing individual contributors and junior team members
- Experience with agile development methodologies, data or ML engineering is an advantage
- Aviation industry experience is an advantage
Tasks
- Collaborate with Data Governance and Data Engineering teams
- Create and deploy machine learning models
- Address complex business challenges
- Ideate, design, and implement cross-divisional data science solutions
- Identify data-driven opportunities across IATA
- Manage and develop data science projects from conception to delivery
- Shape IATA's data-driven future
- Solve concrete industry and business challenges
- Transform decision-making and project work
- Unlock measurable value for IATA and its members
- Design machine learning solutions for existing systems
- Manage a portfolio of Data Science initiatives
- Support key business goals across the organization
- Set technical direction and raise standards
- Mentor junior data scientists
- Ensure high-quality work from external vendors
- Unblock complex initiatives
- Translate analytical concepts into business terms
- Present complex information clearly to stakeholders and upper management
- Contribute to IATA’s Data and AI Strategy
- Participate in key data communities
