Requirements
- PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline with aircraft design focus, or MSc with relevant experience
- Traceable scientific publication record
- Experience in aircraft design, in-flight icing, or aircraft hydrogen fuel/propulsion systems
- Expertise in airframe design, aerodynamics, multiphase flow simulation, numerical modelling, electrical simulation, experimental testing, or hydrogen storage/conversion systems
- Ability to describe CV/interests matching profiles in Cover Letter
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar
- Understanding of 3D modelling methods (finite volume/element)
- Experience with industrial design and computational tools (e.g. ANSYS, Modelica, Dymola)
- Experience in testing laboratories, wind tunnel testing, or flight testing
- Knowledge of flight dynamics
- Experience in industrial aerospace projects or European research programmes
- Understanding of European aerospace research ecosystem
- High motivation for scientific/research career
- Strong self-motivation and personal drive
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Proficiency in technical writing
- Knowledge of German
Tasks
- Investigate in-flight icing characteristics
- Simulate ice protection technologies
- Develop advanced propulsion systems
- Improve numerical models for digital twin
- Design new aeronautic engineering solutions
- Conduct research tests and experimental campaigns
- Validate and benchmark models
- Develop AI-enhanced approaches
- Interface with experienced scientists and engineers
- Work with European Institutions and international partners
- Build a professional network
- Contribute to strategic research direction
- Prepare proposals for new projects
- Publish results in high-ranking journals
- Support other scientists in publishing
- Supervise PhD and Master students
