SCADA/RTU Commissioning Engineer(m/w/x)
Commissioning control and monitoring systems for substations at a global energy technology provider. 4+ years commissioning experience for automation systems with strong substation knowledge required. On-site commissioning at various customer locations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years commissioning engineer experience for automation systems
- Strong knowledge of substation SCADA/RTU systems, HMI principles, Hitachi Energy products, and protection philosophies
- Basic knowledge of communication protocols (IEC 61850, LON, IEC 101–104, DNP)
- Ability to read schematic drawings and identify discrepancies
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Familiarity with SAS/SCADA engineering toolchains (IET600, PCM600, MicroSCADA)
- Willingness to learn SCADA, RTU, networking, and cybersecurity
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Preferred German language skills
Tasks
- Ensure safe and efficient commissioning activities.
- Comply with contract requirements and quality standards.
- Follow Hitachi Energy and customer safety standards.
- Report hazards and near misses.
- Commission substation automation systems at customer sites.
- Perform commissioning tasks using defined processes.
- Support commissioning planning and implementation.
- Implement design changes.
- Provide marked-up drawings to engineering.
- Provide mark-ups for as-built project documentation.
- Identify, track, and resolve open points.
- Coordinate with engineering and project management teams.
- Coordinate site activities for customer acceptance certification.
- Ensure customer sign-off before site demobilization.
- Report site progress and planning updates.
- Manage commissioning tools and test equipment efficiently.
- Support the Service Management team.
