Requirements
- MSc degree in quantitative field or biology/environmental sciences/epidemiology with quantitative training
- Strong analytical skills for developing mathematical/statistical methods
- Strong programming skills for implementing methods
- Experience in R, Python, Stan, HPC environments, and Git is an advantage
- Interest in Bayesian statistics, modelling, resistance evolution, and public health
- Prior experience in Bayesian data analysis, spatial statistics, evolutionary biology, computational biology, disease modelling, environmental modelling, analysis of genetic/genomic data, or quantitative genetics is ideal
- Ability to manage work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to plan, document, and communicate work effectively
- Ability to communicate research effectively in spoken and written English
Tasks
- Develop mechanistic models of insecticide resistance
- Use Bayesian statistics and mathematical modeling
- Apply machine learning and quantitative genetics
- Implement models with state-of-the-art programming
- Calibrate models to available data
- Integrate models with epidemiological simulation platform
- Evaluate resistance-management strategies
- Collaborate with statisticians and researchers
- Work with entomologists and disease modellers
- Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
- Present findings at conferences and workshops
- Participate in regular meetings with collaborators
