Description

As an Optical Simulation Scientist, you will create advanced simulation tools to model high-energy laser systems, collaborating with engineers and physicists to optimize designs and enhance predictive accuracy for next-generation fusion energy solutions.

Requirements

• •Master’s or Ph.D. in optics, computational physics, applied mathematics, or equivalent experience
• •Deep understanding of laser and optical systems
• •Proven experience developing multiphysics or digital twin models
• •Proficiency with multiphysics and optical tools and strong programming skills
• •Approach modeling as a scientific discipline
• •Comfortable working across disciplines
• •Experience with system modeling tools and integrated digital engineering workflows
• •Familiarity with HPC environments and parallel computing
• •Hands-on exposure to laser systems or optomechanical hardware

Tasks

• •Design and validate optical and multiphysics simulation frameworks
• •Model complex amplifier architectures and gain media
• •Predict efficiency and beam quality under high-average-power operation
• •Develop and maintain the digital twin simulation backbone
• •Integrate experimental data with simulation outputs
• •Perform sensitivity and uncertainty analyses
• •Collaborate with optical engineers and laser physicists
• •Implement surrogate models and optimization workflows
• •Produce high-quality technical documentation and model descriptions
