Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field
- Minimum 5 years footwear engineering experience
- Technical knowledge of materials, mold construction, manufacturing processes
- In-depth knowledge of plastics injection molding principles
- Experience with 2D and 3D CADs
- Proficiency reviewing 2D/3D CADs for manufacturability, durability, product alignment
- Experience in 3D modeling and rapid prototyping tools
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Costing experience and solution provision within constraints
- Experience with biomechanical performance principles in footwear design
- Cross-functional collaboration experience with designers, developers, product management, testing teams
- Collaboration with international manufacturing partners on tooling revisions and concerns
- Strong communication skills for guidance and technical support
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Availability to travel to Asia at least 2 times a year
Tasks
- Lead bottom unit development for performance products
- Solve design and construction challenges using material expertise
- Evaluate and enhance product designs for manufacturability and durability
- Review 2D/3D CADs, prototypes, and testing feedback
- Align product specifications with manufacturing capabilities
- Advise on cost, design, and molding capabilities of injected components
- Collaborate with Asian teams on tooling revisions and manufacturing issues
- Support development, product management, and design teams with tooling queries
- Assess current workflows and implement process improvements
- Advance testing efficiencies through process enhancements
