Requirements

  • Higher technical diploma or equivalent experience in Analytical Chemistry or related field
  • Technical expertise in physicochemical analyses using laboratory instruments
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems
  • Experience in laboratory instrumentation maintenance follow-up and coordination
  • Knowledge of technical norms and environmental regulations (asset)
  • Field experience including sampling and in-situ measurements (asset)
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment, sanitation infrastructure, or water treatment technologies (asset)
  • Knowledge and application of instrumentation, measurement techniques, and troubleshooting
  • Metrics and analytics, analytical method development, validation, optimization
  • Proficient use of MS Office and laboratory data management systems
  • Stakeholder relationship management and coordination skills
  • Quality management (ISO17025)
  • Ability to achieve results, deliver high quality work on time
  • Problem-solving skills, pragmatic approach to technical solutions
  • Continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Teamwork, positive and constructive attitude
  • Spoken and written English or French, commitment to learn other language

Tasks

  • Collect environmental samples
  • Perform physicochemical measurements in effluents and river water
  • Prepare samples for physicochemical analysis
  • Perform Ionic chromatography, ICP-MS, HPLCMS-MS, and photometry
  • Supervise installation, maintenance, and qualification of lab equipment
  • Manage laboratory stocks and inventory
  • Draft technical documents and reports, including analytical results
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of data and reports
  • Conduct on-site investigations for environmental events
  • Follow trends in physicochemical monitoring of effluents
