Requirements
- Master's or PhD studies in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering completed within last 12 months
- Interest in applying knowledge in a modern working environment
- Internship of at least 3 months
- Experience in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering
- Focus on metallurgy, tribology, surface engineering, or polymer coatings
- Familiarity with AI tools and applications
- CAD software proficiency
- Basic electronics knowledge
- Solution-oriented approach to technical challenges
- Agile mindset
- Collaborative working style
- Comfortable working with different stakeholders
- Proficiency in English
- Proficiency in German
- Meeting most but not all qualifications
Tasks
- Identify and document Ni-PTFE coated parts in Px01 instrument
- Analyze roles and functional needs of Ni-PTFE coated parts
- Define component-specific requirements for performance, durability, friction, wear, and chemical resistance
- Research PFAS-free and RoHS-compliant coating and material alternatives
- Compare candidate coatings and materials against technical and functional requirements
- Support creation of evaluation matrix for selected alternatives
- Contribute to recommendations for suitable replacement solutions
- Prepare summary report and presentation with proposed next steps
